Poland to keep borders closed for foreigners until June 12
Poland has decided to extend border control for another 30 days - until June 12. The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński signed an amendment to the regulation in this matter.
Border control at the internal border (with Germany, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia) is extended by 30 days - from May 14 until June 12. As before Poland can only be entered at the selected places. Checks will be also continued at seaports and airports.
Ordinance of the Minister of Interior and Administration of March 13 2020 temporarily reintroduce border controls of persons crossing the internal border.
Due to the persistent threat of coronavirus, Poland has now used the Article 25 of the Schengen Code Code. Pursuant to that provision, in the case of a serious threat to public policy or internal security, a Member State may exceptionally reintroduce border controls at internal borders for a limited period not exceeding 30 days or for the foreseeable existence of that serious threat if it exceeds 30 days.
